The BrewDog invasion was bound to reach Liverpool sooner or later, and by late 2014 the Scottish craft brewer had mustered in the Ropewalks District, opening its maiden bar in the city. Located at Manolis Yard, in Colquitt Street, BrewDog Liverpool is now one of 23 BrewDog pubs in the UK, with further outposts in the works. While the decor is chic, it’s the quality of the booze that has been so instrumental in the Scottish brewer’s runaway success. Step inside BrewDog and you’ll be presented with unique craft beers from a host of brands, including the eponymous brewer. As many as 30 beers are on tap, with the likes of Mikkeller, Flying Dog, Evil Twin and Matt Hatter vying for your interest. But you needn’t crane over heads to scan the taps themselves: the large listings above the bar, reminiscent of train station departure screens, let you know which brews are available, as well as their alcohol content and country of origin. Grab a pint of Punk IPA and enjoy the unrivalled ambiance. Dubbed a ‘key bolt hole for the craft beer revolution’ by BrewDog co-founder James Watt, this is one drinking den you won’t want to skip.
